Bitcoin touches dizzying thresholds

Author of the content

The Bitcoin cryptocurrency soars to 60.320, thanks to the optimism of the markets linked to mass vaccinations and the signing of the $ 1.900 billion stimulus plan wanted by President Joe Biden.

Americans will receive the first $ 1.400 per person checks and transfers under the Biden plan starting this weekend. Money that will also reach the pockets of young investors, who have often invested them in Bitcoin in recent months.

Some analysts, following the growth of around 1000% in the last year alone, argue that bitcoin could act as a reserve currency, a bit like gold, and be a hedge against inflation and a weak dollar. Others, on the other hand, think that the phenomenon is a gigantic bubble inflated by monetary and fiscal stimuli that could soon burst as it did in 2017-2018.

Bitcoin, the virtual currency, different from paper money, is not printed but created, distributed and exchanged in a completely virtual way, through the computer and with peer to peer technology.

The Bitcoin currency is not created by the central bank, which produces and releases the new currency on the market, on the contrary, as regards bitcoins, the coins are stored in giant shared databases, and through advanced cryptographic systems it is made possible the transaction, the generation of new coins and the distribution to the owners who will use them to make new transactions.

Bitcoin coins are stored in a virtual wallet, linked to a specific email address, consisting of a private and public key.

The public one will be used to inform the user on where to pay bitcoins, while the private one will make it possible to access that specific wallet.

Tesla bought 1,5 billion of the cryptocurrency and enabled purchases of electric cars through bitcoin. Other large companies, such as Apple for example, could invest in cryptocurrency shortly and accept payments through bitcoin.

What may happen in the coming months is still a great enigma, the euphoria of the markets can surprise us positively by bringing bitcoin to the stars or postponing its take-off, heralding the cryptocurrency flop.
