Asked for trial for Salvini, he faces 15 years in prison

Author of the content

The Palermo Public Prosecutor has asked for the indictment of the head of the Lega Matteo Salvini for the crimes of kidnapping and refusal of official documents at the end of the preliminary hearing that sees him accused, in Palermo. The sadly known story dates back to August 2019, when Salvini, then Minister of the Interior, illegitimately denied the landing to 147 migrants rescued off Lampedusa by the NGO Open Arms ship.

“The prosecutor of Palermo has asked for the indictment and trial against me for kidnapping, 15 years in prison the foreseen penalty. Worried? Absolutely not. I am proud to have worked to protect my country by respecting the law, waking up Europe and saving lives. If this is to cause me problems and suffering, I take it upon myself with joy. Evil not to do, fear not to have ".
