The trade in olive oil and olive-pomace oil in the main world markets, according to Coi data, travels at a rapid pace during the first eight months (October 2018 - May 2019) of the current campaign.
In particular, sales in Japan increased by 23%, 15% in China; 14% in Brazil; 13% in Australia; 12% in Russia; 8% in the United States and 4% in Canada compared to the same period of the previous campaign.
Since December 2018, imports into the main consumer countries have stabilized at 170 thousand tons per month.
As regards EU trade, intra-EU acquisitions increased by 2018% in the first seven months of the current campaign (19/6) and non-EU imports decreased by 8% compared to the same period of the previous campaign.
If we look at the table olives market instead, we see an increase of 14% in the United States, 11% in Brazil, 9% in Australia and 4% in Canada, compared to the same period of the previous campaign.
EU trade in table olives in the first eight months of the 2018/19 campaign (September 2018 - April 2019) shows that intra-EU acquisitions and non-EU imports increase by 4% and 2% respectively compared to the same period from the previous campaign.
